Are you team prep or team procrastinate?
With a week to go (sorry Queensland teachers!), the to do list that comes with the start of the school year is getting longer and longer. I remember it well. Almost 10 years of the January itch to adjust programmes, redecorate classrooms, print, laminate, cut… I know the drill!
Teachers, how are you feeling? For me, the start of the year was a complex feeling of anticipation, excitement, dread and overwhelm. I would work through the to do list and get to the fun part, meeting the kiddos! Your students will walk through your door with a huge collection of school items AND emotions. They will be just as anxious as you (so will their parents) so priority one is making positive connections and easing them back into school life. The booklist can wait.
Top tip: PLAY
Get outside and play on the playground, pull out the lego and break that ice. Make connections and have some fun! Download our free colouring sheet for those little people who love to colour!
Play is at the heart of everything we do at Play in the Past and (shocker) it is at the heart of everything your students do.
Why not take one thing off your back to school to do list and book your class an incursion or hire the Hands on History Collection? You will get to tick off the History curriculum and give your students the opportunity to PLAY!
If you are a teacher in need of support or encouragement, let us know. Play in the Past is here for you.
YOU GOT THIS!
